Who We Are

Among other things, we're natural-born copywriters. At the age of 11, Simon wrote a reference book called "The Wide World of Horror Films"; part 2, "Clash of the Titans," is pending. Julia has been impressing bystanders with her vocabulary since early childhood (granted, some have found her annoying). These youthful peculiarities have evolved into more than 30 years of combined professional editorial experience, culminating in Editorial Emergency, a copywriting and branding consultancy catering to entertainment, lifestyle and nonprofit clients.

Simon Glickman, copywriter/partner

ImageAfter earning a B.A. in English from Reed College and a D. Phil. in Literature from Oxford University, Simon taught English Composition at the University of Michigan. He worked as a freelance writer for a number of years before joining the staff of HITS magazine, where he served as Senior Editor and chief contributor to HITSDailyDouble.com. He departed the Los Angeles publication in 2004 to become a freelance copywriter and consultant, with The Doors Music Company as a primary client. Simon launched Editorial Emergency with Julia in 2005.

Simon is abnormally preoccupied with vintage horror movies, obscure pop music and the preparation of kale. When not crafting glittering prose for EE's many clients, the San Fernando Valley native can often be found noodling on his Fender Jag-Stang.

Julia Rubiner, copywriter/partner

ImageJulia earned a B.A. in Creative Writing and Literature from the University of Michigan, then progressed from newsletter editor to journalist to book editor to publicity writer to columnist. Her freelance pursuits have encompassed copywriting, ghostwriting, speechwriting and providing content to a variety of Web sites. Before joining Simon in Editorial Emergency, Julia was Publicity Editor for DreamWorks Records.

Julia enjoys pruning shrubbery, watching her TiVoed cache of procedurals and reading the Los Angeles Times Calendar, Home and Real Estate sections, many of which can be found archived on the floor of her living room.

Megan Zinn, associate

ImageMegan began her career on an academic track, completing a B.A. in English and Social Science at the University of Michigan and an M.A. in American Studies at the University of Minnesota. Along the way she earned her stripes as an instructor and academic advisor. She then plunged into the music industry, spending four years as Director of Publicity for indie label Red House Records. Eventually she saw an opportunity to combine her love of writing, her knack for marketing and her interest in academics, and developed a niche in higher-education marketing. In addition to her work for Editorial Emergency, she writes Web copy, brochures, articles and informational materials for universities and colleges, primarily for the University of Massachusetts Amherst (her third U of M).

Megan spends her non-writing time chasing two young boys, indulging her gregarious tendencies, and dreaming of having such hobbies as writing, antiquing and traveling.
